Recent paintings

Here and there, along the way, we are all assailed by the thought that the visible is an allegory and that behind the allegory lives the essence of light and darkness.

Entering Marion Borgelt's work, I see the known and unknown boldly unfolding in shifting shapes, uncovering marks and memory; often full of joy, sometimes mysterious and meditative; a theatre of transformations and confrontations.

This series marks a departure point from her previous work and draws its inspiration from one source, 'The Entrance', a powerfully symbolic and narrative painting. As an embryo, it encapsulates the elements of being, which rebirth and project through the series.

The images spiral, dive, metamorphose and lift layers from their source. These are courageous statements, strongly female, intuitive in past knowledge. Soaring with the eagle, breaking
the barriers of time and space and spreading on to larger and larger canvasses, they could extend ad infinitum in this inspired outburst. Marion's mural of life.

Finding an authentic personal voice can take a lifetime, but look ... listen ... these works speak fluently. Delighting in gesture and movement, the form accentuates an organic vitality in the playfulness of image and colour. A new tonality is keyed off luminous timbres; whites, browns, blues, ochres, decorated in sensual rich purple, indigo, red and gold ......... moving across the times.
