Working across sculpture, photography, video, drawing and painting, Piccinini is best known for her hybrid, figurative sculptures rendered in silicone and hair. As with much of Piccinini's work, The Pacifist embodies the possibility of connection across forms of life, suggesting that beauty and vulnerability coexist within all living beings. In its stillness, the work becomes an image of acceptance: a creature at peace in its own extraordinary skin.
