This beautiful, ethereal sculpture is from a significant, ongoing body of work where Mikala Dwyer creates works that appear both hollow and solid at one glance. Formed with heat and moulded by hand, transparent plastic appears to float in the air as if by magic. The lightness of its form, cloud-like and hovering, allows the work to fill space yet take up no space at all. Perhaps a magician’s alchemy, symbolic of both worship and transcendence, in this mystical dream we question our own sense of materiality.
