Factum 1, 2021
synthetic polymer paint, gouache on 32 canvasboards, nos. 111750–111781
202 x 141.5 cm

Both Factum 1 (2021) and Factum 2 (2021) are based on Arthur Streeton’s work, From my camp (Sirius Cove), 1896. As well as incorporating the mesmerising lines of Bobby West Tjupurrula into these images, Tillers has also included the striking red elements from Robert Rauchenberg’s Factum 1 (1957) (collection: Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles) and Factum 2 (1957) (collection: Museum of Modern Art, New York). In these two works, Rauchenberg is also exploring repetition, variation and difference.
