colour powder pigments in Easycast, Epoxyglass, on Perspex
200 x 180 cm

Best known for his vivid abstract paintings, Dale Frank’s multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, drawing, performance, film and installation, all guided by his experimental approach to materiality. In these new works, Frank continues his empirical investigation into the possibilities of painting, using powdered pigments suspended in resin on Perspex to create deep, tactile surfaces. Alongside their striking materiality, the works also carry a performative dimension: the poured textures register the physical act of making, while the mirrored Perspex draws the viewer into the shifting play of colour and composition. Together, these elements reaffirm Frank’s ongoing reinvention of what painting can be.
