Hyottoko also appears in traditional dance dengaku. He plays the role of a clown. Dancers wearing Hyottoko masks also appear in some Japanese local festivals. One of the most famous Hyottoko dances takes place in Miyazaki Prefecture—Hyuga Hyottoko Natsumatsuri.
