Kaneuji’s imagery gravitates in unexpected places and explores imaginary perspectives. Floating forms, removed from their signification are poetically recontextualized.

Exhibition Dates: 6 June – 29 June 2013

Teppei Kaneuji’s third solo exhibition at Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery includes works from the three different series:

Games Dance & the Constructions’ is a series of three-dimensional collage sculptures. Anonymous elements are extracted from manga animations, piled up in seemingly random arrangements, and collaged onto Fibre Reinforced Plastic.

‘White Discharge (Built-up Objects)’ is a series that isolates objects from their original context and place in time. They are piled up into complex assemblages and dripped with liquid plastics.

‘Model of Something’ is a series of Perspex sculptures onto which Kaneuji has painted intricately layered patterns that suggest invisible walls. The works blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture and inhabit a non-existent place.

These three series investigate the relationship between the visible and the invisible and the spaces between dimensions. Kaneuji’s imagery gravitates in unexpected places and explores imaginary perspectives. Floating forms, removed from their signification are poetically recontextualized.
