Fence sitters (B), 2007
Lightjet print from digital image
75 x 100 cm
Edition of 8 + 2 APs

This image was first exhibited in 2007 in an exhibition titled Whacked, which drew on familiar imagery from news media and contemporary culture, making a link between themes of terrorism, surveillance, suppression and Australian nationalism. Playing with stereotypes, Deacon and her friends have masked themselves in long johns with disturbing painted faces. The images use sinister humour to highlight similarities between fanatics around the world.
